Talking Through My 20s

Moving Forward After Trauma and Overcoming Unexpected Challenges

Rachel Linch Season 1 Episode 4

What do you do when your world is flipped upside down and you receive life-changing news? It's an experience no one expects to happen until they are in the middle of it.

In this conversation, Rachel is talking with her cousin Josh Warner about his experience with the unexpected trauma that life can bring. At 18 years old Josh was diagnosed with Ewing sarcoma, a rare cancer that occurs in the bones or the soft tissue around the bones. He graduated from high school in the middle of his chemotherapy treatment which he completed in November 2016. He has been in remission for over four years now and currently attends the University of North Texas where he is pursuing a biology degree.

Josh and Rachel got to have a great conversation about Josh's experience going through cancer right out of high school and how he has focused on moving forward with his life by doing the things he is passionate about.

Some of the topics you'll hear in this conversation are:

  • What Josh learned through his experience with cancer
  • How to keep going when life unexpectedly changes
  • Why it's important to live your life fully
  • How to balance your passions and your responsibilities
  • Encouragement to anyone going through trauma or who has a loved one going through trauma
